5 Tips for Developing a Strong Partnership with Teachers
Working together will help your child succeed.. the
importance of a strong working relationship between a
child and the teacher is easy enough to
understand. Keep in mind, however, that this is
only half the equation. Just as important to your
child's school success is the relationship that you, as
a parent, cultivate with the teacher. Examine
these five tips that you can use as you build this
partnership:
There is no time like the present to introduce yourself
to the teacher. Get in touch early and share
information and set positive tone for the entire school
year.
Put the parent-teacher conference on your
calendar--and don't miss it. Mark the dates -
October 20th from 1:00 PM -- 7:00 PM.
Stay in regular contact with the teacher:
You don't have to wait for the parent-teacher
conference to talk to the teacher.
If problems arise, stay objective: There are
going to be times when your child is struggling in the
classroom, is having discipline problems, or simply
has a personality conflict with the team. When
such problems arise, it's important to stay calm and
give the teacher the benefit of the doubt.
Don't be a stranger...visit the classroom.
One of the best ways to build a parent-teacher
partnership and show interest in your child's learning
is to visit the classroom.
